Breast biopsy before testing?

Hello. I am a 25 year old female. I found a small lump in my right breast about a week ago. I have a very strong family history of cancer so I called and made an apt with my doc right away. They referred me to the breast clinic on Cherry Point Air Station (we are stationed there, my husband is a marine). When I met the surgeon he took a quick look at me and then said image testing would do me no good (mammogram, ultra sound, etc) and that I am better off considering a biopsy. He didn’t pressure me, but he said that was his suggestion. So, I agreed and he did the biopsy right then and there. Now I am just wondering if that is normal? I mean to cut out a piece of my breast without any imaging? Do you think this is normal?

How funny my Fiance is at the Le Jeune Base. Anywhoo, i too had a lump scare last year actually about this time too. Well i went and the doctor said that the lump was squishy and flat and that they would to an ultrasound instead of a biopsy. She said that if the lump had been larger and more firm that she would have definitely done a biopsy first. So i would say no, depending on the condition of the lump. I wish you the best of luck girl. I hope its no big deal. Mine were cystic fibroids, apparently they run in my family (females both sides).
Good Luck!

Breast cancer screening by mammography has proved worldwide to be the only means of reducing mortality from this disease by as much as 30-50%. However, despite the widespread utilisation of screening mammography and the constantly growing numbers of examinations performed every day, the interpretation of mammograms remains largely subjective and is not even always clear.
Alleviating Anxiety with Zensight Process

Rachel looks in the mirror and notices a mark on her cheek. Immediately her breath becomes shallow, her heart races, and her chest tightens. She checks the spot more closely, and sees that it’s just a speck of dirt. She washes it off and tells herself firmly that she is fine – it wasn’t the beginning of skin cancer. It was nothing.

Hours later, Rachel still doesn’t feel okay. What if seeing that spot was a “sign”? What is she is about to develop skin cancer? What if she already has skin cancer? Recurring thoughts of cancer stay in her thoughts for days or weeks afterwards.

Like an estimated 13-16.5% of adults, Rachel has an anxiety disorder. .

Zensight Process offers new hope to those with anxiety. In many cases, a practitioner who is very skilled with both Zensight and in working with those with anxiety, can help someone to experience dramatic improvement, in just a few sessions.

In most situations, many individuals will be able to use Zensight on their own – without ever consulting a practitioner at all – and still experience considerable reduction in their anxiety levels.

How to Use Zensight Process

With Zensight Process we begin by creating a “healing symbol”. This symbol can be a word, picture, or colour. Some people choose to use a symbol such as “ocean”, and may simply focus on the word or may visualize the ocean. When this healing symbol is used or focused upon with intent, it allows the fears, concerns, and “blocks” that someone is experiencing to gently heal and transform.

The healing symbol is then used together with healing statements and visualization, to soften, dissolve and release the concerns that are being experienced.

The individual is instructed to stop and notice any visual image that comes to mind when she or he thinks about a specific concern – and then focus upon this image while connecting with the healing symbol that was chosen.

What generally happens is that the image spontaneously transforms in a way that feels better. Verbal healing statements are used to accelerate this process, if needed. After each statement, the healing symbol is focused upon.

Examples of healing statements are:

I heal all of the fears that any parts of me have, that I can’t get free of this problem

I heal any and all feelings that any parts of me have, that I am trapped.

All of the different parts of me now experience a growing sense of peace and comfort.

My entire body is relaxing now.

Sound simple? It is – extremely simple, and yet powerfully and deeply effective. Best of all, the effects are lasting. When energetic imbalances are also addressed, results will in most cases be permanent.

Energy Balancing

Someone who experiences frequent and/or pervasive feelings of fear has an imbalance in his or her triple warmer meridian, which governs the body’s fight/flight/freeze response. In short, the triple warmer meridian has become overenergized.

When the triple warmer is overenergized, trying to talk someone out of intense fear or anxiety usually has little effect. Rachel rationally knows that the mark on her face was simply dirt and was no more an indicator of cancer than is a stain on her jeans. However, in spite of this awareness, Rachel can not let the fear go.

The problem that Rachel is experiencing is not in her mind so much as in her body and in her energy system. Rachel knows that she is safe – but her body and energy system need to know it too. In a sense, they need to be reprogrammed. With Zensight, this “reprogramming” can occur gently and easily during a rapid yet extremely relaxing process.

The emphasis which Zensight Process places upon using both visualization and verbal “healing statements” ensures that both hemispheres of the brain are involved during the healing process. This assists people in linking logic with emotion. After using Zensight, not only does Rachel logically understand that the spot on her face was not a sign of impending doom – she emotionally “gets it” as well, and has taken the first step towards leaving her difficulties with anxiety behind.

Now I know it’s not smart to come to the internet
for advice, but I just want your guys’ opinions.
Since about a few months ago, I’ve had this like..
mole thing in the middle of my chest. It’s not exactly
a “mole”, but it just is a small brown spot that looks kind
of smudged. I’ve read up on skin cancer and stuff, and
it doesn’t look NEARLY as bad as half the pictures they
post as examples.

Here is a picture of it though.

9 Steps To Cleaner And Healthier Skin

According to Bestskinpeel, for cleaner, healthier and easier to manage skin just follow this list of nine items:

1) Lower your stress level through prayer and meditation. Stress creates hormones that actually age us as they destroy cells and create toxic biproducts and free radicals. Studies have shown that prayer and meditation can reduce our stress levels. Prayer and meditation have been proven to even alleviate some of the symptoms of cancer and other life threatening diseases.

2) Drink plenty of water. It is a fact that 90% of us do not drink enough water. For your skin cells to function properly and heal properly from cuts, etc… we need to drink 8-12 glasses of water every day. Our skin is one of our most important organs as it protects us from disease, cushions our falls, etc… It needs plenty of water.

3) Get proper sleep. Not getting the proper 8-10 hours of sleep per day will first show in your skin. Broken capillaries, puffiness, circles under the eyes.

4) Eat well. Get proper nutrition. Too many junk foods can cause or worsen skin problems like pimples and acne. A well balanced meal 3 times per day has been proven to help alleviate spikes in skin problems and help to average out the outbreaks in acne vulgaris.

5) Take vitamins to supplement your skin and body. We can’t always make sure we get 100% of each vitamin and mineral with the foods we eat, but we can take a multivitamin once a day. They are cheap at Walmart and there is no excuse. People that take multivitamins once a day live longer. Its a proven fact just like persons that smoke take years off their lives.

6) Properly clean your skin. Harsh soaps can dry out your skin and even stimulate further sebum (oil) production which can worsen acne. Use a mild cleanser with 2% salicylic acid. This has been proven very effective in ridding excess oils while maintaining proper hydration and pH. The slight acidity will keep bacteria at bay.

7) Don’t smoke. Smoking puts years on you. Literally, smoking can add 10 years to the aged look of your skin. Why would you want to do that? If you must have nicotine then get nicotine gum or the patch – they will cure your cravings and there is no evidence or statistics of anyone developing cancer, lung disease, etc… from these.

Wear sunscreen. The skin does have keratonin to protect against the suns rays, but it is no match for UV rays, etc… that we expose ourselves to. Melanoma has several forms and all are deadly. If you don’t think you will get skin cancer or think you are invulnerable, just go to your local dermatologist and ask to see pictures of clients with skin cancer, better yet go to the oncology center at your local hospital. You won’t think that way ever again. Wear sunscreen.

9) Treat yourself to a spa treatment atleast once a year. Skin peels, TCA peels, deep tissue massage, complete relaxation, aromatherapy, etc… will all energize and heal your skin. TCA peels will actual improve your skins ability to regenerate itself and improve collagen levels.

Remember, follow these nine steps to enjoy healthier skin.

http://i34.tinypic.com/232lw4.jpg
I’ve had this for almost about 3 years I think. maybe almost four years. I use to go to the pool a lot and sometimes I were sunscreens. I don’t know.. maybe I missed some spot. But now I’m really wondering if I have Melanoma Skin cancer and I’m also wondering if there’s a chance if I’m going to die.. And do I have to go through any therapy to get rid of this?

Here’s the story, it started growing a lot this year and it’s been itching all of a sudden. And the mole is almost an inch wide. I shave. could it cause it. And inside my leg around the mole feels a bit rougher than the other side behind my left leg (I have the mole behind my upper leg). And my big sister has the same thing. It looks bruised and bloody like too.

Can someone that knows a lot about Melanoma reply to this cause I can’t handle the worries anymore.

Yes go see a doctor my step dad has a mole like that on his back and its cancerious. I suggest getting treatments and doing as much as you can for it

Breast Cancer Surgery Options – Understanding Your Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer

Overview

Many breast cancers are sensitive to the hormone estrogen. This means that estrogen causes the breast cancer tumor to grow. Such cancer is called estrogen receptor positive cancer or ER positive cancer.

Some women have what’s called HER2-positive breast cancer. HER2 refers to a gene that helps cells grow, divide, and repair themselves. When cells have too many copies of this gene, cells – including cancer cells – grow faster. Experts think that women with HER2-positive breast cancer have a more aggressive disease and a higher risk of recurrence than those who do not have this type.

No one knows the exact causes of breast cancer. Doctors often cannot explain why one woman develops breast cancer and another does not. They do know that bumping, bruising, or touching the breast does not cause cancer. And breast cancer is not contagious. You cannot “catch” it from another person.

Research has shown that women with certain risk factors are more likely than others to develop breast cancer.

A risk factor is something that may increase the chance of developing a disease. Studies have found the following risk factors for breast cancer: -

* Age: – The chance of getting breast cancer goes up as a woman gets older. Most cases of breast cancer occur in women over 60. This disease is not common before menopause.

* Personal history of breast cancer: – A woman who had breast cancer in one breast has an increased risk of getting cancer in her other breast.

* Family history: – A woman’s risk of breast cancer is higher if her mother, sister, or daughter had breast cancer. The risk is higher if her family member got breast cancer before age 40.

Having other relatives with breast cancer (in either her mother’s or father’s family) may also increase a woman’s risk.

How is breast cancer diagnosed?

Clinical breast exam : – Your health care provider feels each breast for lumps and looks for other problems. If you have a lump, your doctor will feel its size, shape, and texture. Your doctor will also check to see if it moves easily. Benign lumps often feel different from cancerous ones. Lumps that are soft, smooth, round, and movable are likely to be benign. A hard, oddly shaped lump that feels firmly attached within the breast is more likely to be cancer.

Diagnostic mammogram : – Diagnostic mammograms are x-ray pictures of the breast. They take clearer, more detailed images of areas that look abnormal on a screening mammogram. Doctors use them to learn more about unusual breast changes, such as a lump, pain, thickening, nipple discharge, or change in breast size or shape. Diagnostic mammograms may focus on a specific area of the breast. They may involve special techniques and more views than screening mammograms.

Ultrasound : – An ultrasound device sends out sound waves that people cannot hear. The waves bounce off tissues. A computer uses the echoes to create a picture. Your doctor can view these pictures on a monitor. The pictures may show whether a lump is solid or filled with fluid. A cyst is a fluid-filled sac. Cysts are not cancer. But a solid mass may be cancer. After the test, your doctor can store the pictures on video or print them out. This exam may be used along with a mammogram.

Surgery for Breast Cancer Treatment

How is surgery used in breast cancer treatment?

Surgery to remove as much of the cancer as possible is the primary treatment for breast cancer. Today, women have many surgical options and choices. The type of surgery performed depends upon: -

* the size and location of the breast lump or tumor

* the type and stage of the breast cancer (If the cancer has spread within the breast or has spread outside of the breast to the lymph nodes, or to other parts of the body.)

* the size of the breast

* the woman’s preference There are several types of breast surgery. Your physician can explain the benefits and risks of each type, in addition to answering any questions or concerns you may have prior to surgery.

how would you reword this, in terms where others could understand?

A biopsy is recommended when a significant abnormality is found, either on physical examination and/or by an imaging test. Examples of abnormality can include a breast lump felt during physical self examination or tissue changes noticed from a mammogram test. **Before a biopsy is performed, it is important to make sure that the threat of cancer cannot be disproved or ruled out by a simpler, less invasive examination.** A lump may be obviously harmless when examined by ultrasound. If this is not decisive, the presence of cancer or a variety of benign breast conditions can be determined using a biopsy.

In other words, how would you explain:
“Before a biopsy is performed, it is important to make sure that the threat of cancer cannot be disproved or ruled out by a simpler, less invasive examination.”

Infra Red Thermography and Breast Cancer Detection

Most women would be surprised to know that mammograms, the traditional screening method for breast cancer, only detects cancerous tumors after they have formed. Thus it really doesn’t “prevent” breast cancer.

Breast cancer detection involves a number of things, and no one diagnostic tool does it all. They all have their place and should be used in a way that best suits the patient and her situation. Let me tell you a bit about infrared thermography and how it fits into that picture.

Cancerous tumors have an abnormal cellular metabolism. In simple terms their energy systems work differently than a healthy cell. They have a metabolism that is dependant on glucose (or sugar) and thus require a network of vascular tissue (blood vessels) to enable them to survive.

The development of this vascular network is called angeogenesis, and it is a very early indicator that a tumor is present in the tissues. It appears even before signs of breast cancer are detectable by either self-exams or mammograms.

Infra red thermography is a thermal imaging technique that detects varying levels of heat energy in breast tissue. These variations in heat signature can indicate the growth of new blood vessels that tumors need to support them.

This technique has been largely ignored and downplayed by the medical establishment. This is because it is possible to get a false positive result from thermal imaging such that a suspected signs of breast cancer never develop into a tumor.

However, this is a poor reason for ignoring such an effective and important diagnostic tool. The emphasis should be on the use of thermal imaging as part of the diagnostic strategy for breast cancer detection, rather than the only diagnostic tool used.

The non-invasive nature of thermographic imaging and the fact that it can be used with absolute safety on women from a young age are important as well. Doctors can screen for potential future cancers, without subjecting a young patient to radiation.

Infra red thermography is not a miracle and it is not claimed to replace other methods of breast cancer detection, but it can raise an early warning that will give a woman time to try and prevent the development of breast cancer.

For this reason, it is important that as many women as possible are aware of this important tool and can decide for themselves if they want to use it. They now have the ability to act before there are signs of breast cancer, not after it has been discovered.

You can help raise awareness of infra red thermography and its value as a diagnostic tool in breast cancer detection Please tell your friends and everyone who will listen. You can learn more about this technology at the following link:

Does anyone know what “symmetrical stromal and glandular changes of breast mean?

This was on the report of my mammogram last year and said normal, and it was also on this past weeks mammogram and also said normal, but then I received a letter from imaging center on 10-31-08 saying the mammogram was ABNORMAL and to follow up with Dr. ASAP. I also had an ultrasound last week on the same day as mammo, that was abnormal. I’ve posted most of this on here already, but forgot to ask what those terms meant. Also, how could I have received that last letter? Did the imaging center just notice they missed something??? Sorry, I’m just really worried, I’m 40 and breast cancer is in my family.

Daffy D,
Carcinoma of the Breast is the most common female malignancy and the most common cause of female cancer related death. Fibroadenoma is the most common benign tumour in young women and is due to a proliferation of stromal tissue entrapping a group of terminal lobular duct units -TLDUs. It is known as the “breast mouse” because it is highly mobile and slips away from the examiner’s fingers. Fibroadenomas may be tiny or several centimetres in size and are charateristically round, smooth and firm in consistency. They are benign and do not need to be removed. The breast is composed of two main types of tissues: glandular tissues and stromal (supporting) tissues. The glandular tissues house the milk-producing lobules and the ducts (the milk passages). The stromal tissues include fatty and fibrous connective tissue. Any changes in the glandular or stromal areas may cause symptoms of benign breast conditions. Some women experience changes to their breast tissue over their lifetime. These changes can include an increase in the number of breast cells (hyperplasia) or the emergence of atypical breast cells (atypical hyperplasia). In some instances, a portion of breast tissue that exhibits abnormal characteristics can eventually develop into a cancerous tumour. That is why physicians carefully monitor patients with abnormal breast cells, to ensure that if cancer develops at a later date, it is detected and treated early. I am not able to tell you why you should have received a letter stating that the results were normal and a following letter stating that changes were detected. You would be advised to discuss this with your doctor. This is not to say that the changes that are noted are cancerous or precancerous, the possibility of them being benign also exists. The wording “Symmetrical” often is related to benign changes, but, as ever, not necessarily so.

With the relief of anxiety Zensight Process

Rachel looks in the mirror and notices a mark on his cheek. Immediately her breath becomes superficial, her heart races, your chest tightens and you feel nauseous. She controls the spot more closely, and believes that? S only a patch of dirt. She is washed away and said firmly that she is okay? was not? not the principle of skin cancer, it was nothing. What? S ido. She is fine.

Though she continues to say she is fine, hours later, Rachel still not? Do not feel good. What if he was seeing a field? Sign? What is being about to develop skin cancer? And if you already have skin cancer and only Hasn? Seen yet? You should go see your doctor? Recurrent thoughts of cancer floating in the back of his mind for the rest of the day. Weeks later, the ads are still spending more time to inspect your skin unusual marks or stains.

Like an estimated 13-16.5% of adults, Rachel has an anxiety disorder. Types of anxiety disorders are generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, agoraphobia, social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder.

Sometimes symptoms of anxiety can be so debilitating that those affected do not leave home or attend social functions? and your life can become consumed by the effort to avoid people, places or situations that may provoke feelings of anxiety.

Traditional treatment for anxiety disorder has engaged to help the medication to reduce symptoms of anxiety, and behavioral therapy to help cope with the irrational thoughts and challenging. Treatment is generally expected to be long term.

Zensight process offers new hope to people with anxiety. In many cases, a practitioner who is very skilled with both Zensight and working with people with anxiety may help someone to experience dramatic improvement? and in some cases the complete elimination of symptoms? in just a couple of sessions.

In most situations, many people may use Zensight yourself? without consulting a doctor at all? to significantly improve and sometimes even completely eliminate your symptoms. Those who do choose to work with a therapist or physician to help maintain and accelerate their healing will also benefit from doing self-healing Zensight between sessions to obtain the best results.

Using Zensight Process

Zensight process involves working with the subconscious mind in a way that is similar to hypnosis? and, however, hypnosis is not actually used. Instead, start by creating one? Symbol cure?. This symbol may be a word, image or color. Some people choose to use as a symbol? Ocean?. You can then focus on the floor? Ocean? when it feels right, and sometimes could see the ocean.

When this healing symbol is used or intended to be focused on, enabling the fears and concerns? Blocks? someone is experiencing to gently heal and transform.

The symbol of healing used in conjunction with the states of healing and visualization, to soften, dissolve and liberation of the concerns that are being experienced.

In a situation of anxiety, the person responsible to stop and see any image that comes to mind when he or she thinks one of their specific concerns? and then focus on this image when connected with the symbol of healing that was chosen.

This use of visualization helps speed up healing, and not depend on the limits of our conscious mind and consciousness. The image displayed may be an actual representation of a fear or problem you are experiencing, or may be something that is a metaphor. I’ve had people tell me that they suddenly see a picture of himself with his leg caught in a trap, or they see a large gray object that they can? Not identify or make sense a. The different images presented are highly variable and not always understood by the person. The beauty of it is that you do not need to be understood. The image is not focused on the connection, while the symbol of healing, and allows you to transform.

What usually happens is that the image is transformed so that spontaneous healing is. Each of the watches as the trap that was holding the leg simply dissolves and disappears. They see themselves after being able to move freely and with a sense of joy and peace. The large gray object inexplicably morphs into a large egg that opens and releases the light and a feeling of peace that the person absorbing the senses, as they or he sees.

If the image is no longer? No change, if not see the image, or for any disorder, the individual uses the healing statements. After each statement, the person takes a deep breath and let go, and focuses on the symbol of healing. Disorders are healed and transformed, as positive feelings to grow and strengthen.

Examples of statements of healing are:

I heal any fears that the parties are to me, I can? Do not get free of this problem

I heal any and all feelings that the parties are to me, I’m trapped.

I left all parts of knowledge, and very complete, I’m sure.

All the different parts of my experience now is a growing sense of peace and comfort.

My whole body is relaxed now.

Sound simple? What is it? extremely simple, but powerful and very effective. Best of all, the effects are lasting – provided that energy imbalances are treated and cured, results in most cases be permanent.

Energy Balance

Zensight can be used for much more than simply targeting specific symptoms. In the case of anxiety? especially the experience of fear and generalized anxiety? it is best to begin by targeting energetic imbalances are more likely to be experiencing.

Someone who experience frequent and / or feelings of fear is an imbalance in the triple warmer meridian. Meridian Energy have been widely recognized in Eastern medicine as the impact on our emotional, physical and mental concerns. Acupuncture is just one of many methods that focus on achieving healing energy meridians.

The triple warmer meridian is the meridian in the body that regulates the fight / flight / freeze response. Sometimes? often in response to an original event or series of events in which the individual felt intense fear or terror? The triple warmer meridian becomes overenergized. In the case of anxiety, the focus will be on? Flight / freeze? response, and each respond quickly with the fear of many situations that may seem harmless to others.

Trying to tell someone their fear often has little effect. Rachel knows rationally that the mark on his face was just dirt and is no more an indicator that cancer is a stain on his jeans. However, despite this awareness and, despite their logical mind tells you is safe and is exaggerating, Rachel can not let the fear go.

The problem is that Rachel is living in his mind as much as your body and your energy system. Often, patterns of triple warmer overenergization start in childhood, in response to the repeated experience of terror. Sometimes this may be due to experiences of abuse that have experienced or witnessed so much, and sometimes may be less obviously related to the traumatic experiences that occur, however, fear-for the child.

Rachel knows it is safe? but your body and energy system needs to know too. In a sense, have to be reprogrammed. Zensight with this? Reprogramming? smoothly and can be produced easily in a fast yet very relaxing.

Other energy imbalances can also be involved. Homolateral energy (energy that goes up and down the body rather than the crossing of it) may also be involved. Once the energy imbalances that are addressed are involved, many anxiety symptoms decrease immediately. The work then becomes the orientation focused on the concerns more directly.

What is the cure? Whole? Person

The emphasis Zensight process places at once using visualization and verbal? Statements cure? ensures that both hemispheres of the brain are involved in the healing process. This helps people in linking emotion with logic. After using Zensight not only Rachel, of course, understand that the stain on his face was not a sign of impending doom? it emotionally? is this? too.

Zensight also addresses the experience of the parts himself. We all have parts of itself. In many situations in which healing does not live very effective even when using the modalities, the issue is that the person of a certain level? in some small part of them? can believe that? s not safe to heal the problems. Rachel may be afraid to completely cure your anxiety because some small part of it may fear that if she remains concerned about and is expected to develop cancer, you will pay less attention and will miss the warning signs and therefore be unsafe. Zensight allows the individual to access and bring healing? using visualization and specific claims of cure? even the parties that are afraid to heal, or believe that it is not in our best interest to do so.

By ensuring that the person is treated as a whole? physical, emotional, mental, and energy? Zensight allows even the concern that is generally considered to be difficult to impossible to solve, to be as quickly and smoothly as possible healed.

I was wondering what this is, can it be skin cancer?

Its really itchy and normally appears on my legs and arms. The first time i notice it it’s like blood on it. It looks like little dry blood is coming out of my skin. It’s really itchy but after awhile it turns into the light brown spots. It starts to disappear after a long time. I was wondering what it was and if there are any creams and stuff that i can use to get rid of it.

Okay, as a general rule, if you suspect cancer you seek medical advice. You don’t think about it and see if it gets better by itself, you go to a doctor. These days, cancer’s something that really isn’t that big of a deal if it’s caught in the very early stages, however, leave it too late and you’re screwed.

Looking at the pictures and description, I’d bet lots of money that it’s not cancer. Cancer’s roughly defined as an uncontrolled growth of cells. If there’s no growth per se, and it ’starts to disappear after a long time’, it’s not cancer.

Regardless, I’m not a doctor, so I’m hardly qualified to give advice, but my best guess would be that it was something along the lines of dry skin, or some skin irritation. Nothing major at all.

Skin Beauty in 4 Simple Steps

Many women would like to have a few more skin beauty tips in their stockpile. After all, it is everyone’s dream to appear younger by having healthy, radiant skin. Only a few are fortunate enough to have skin that requires little sustenance but remains beautiful and glowing.

For the rest of us who are not fortunate enough, we have to have a skin care practice which enables us to put our best face forward. The following skin beauty tips will assist you in finding out what you ought to do appear younger in four simple steps.

Tip Number 1 – THE SUN IS YOUR ENEMY

Overexposure to the sun is a huge factor when it comes to aging and wrinkles. The sun’s UV rays cause the elastin and collagen of your skin to disintegrate. This causes skin discoloration, wrinkles, and to have a leathery appearance. Also drink plenty of water each day which is a natural and healthy way to keep your skin hydrated. Not a very pleasant picture. In addition to signs of aging and skin damage, overexposure to the sun has also been proven to cause skin cancer.

Wear sunscreen with a high SPF made from natural ingredients. Chemicals used in many skin care products are bad for the skin and some can even cause cancer. Also avoid those skin care products which contain mineral oil as they can clog the pores on your skin. Be sure to cover all of the parts of your body, exposed or not and even around your eyes.

Tip Number 2 – ALWAYS WASH YOUR FACE

Grime from pollution and makeup has to be cleaned from your face. These cause an increase of free radicals in your body. Free radicals tend to make you appear much older and cause damage to your cells. It plays a huge role in sagging and rough skin and the appearance of wrinkles. Fruits and vegetables are high in antioxidants while most sweet and fatty foods will increase free radicals in your body. Properly wash your face each day to let your skin breathe.

Tip Number 3 – MOISTURIZE

Another skin beauty tip which will keep you looking younger is to hydrate your skin. Dryness contributes to saggy skin and the appearance of wrinkles. You should use a moisturizer cream which is effective in promoting the production of elastin and collagen. Also drink plenty of water each day which is a natural and healthy way to keep your skin hydrated.

Tip Number 4 – HEALTHY EATING

Eat foods which are high in antioxidants while staying away from those that are proven to increase free radicals. Fruits and vegetables are high in antioxidants while most sweet and fatty foods will increase free radicals in your body.

Keeping your skin healthy and beautiful is easy if you follow these four tips. By treating your body well and taking care of your skin you are helping yourself look younger longer and also setting a good example for others to follow.

For the rest of us who are not fortunate enough, we have to have a skin care practice which enables us to put our best face forward. The following skin beauty tips will assist you in finding out what you ought to do appear younger in four simple steps.

Have you had a skin cancer that looked like an ordinary facial bump?

I have a bump on the upper part of my nose. I first thought it was just a pimple from where my glasses were irritating my face. It doesn’t have anything inside it and that wasn’t strange because most of the bumps I get on my face are not whiteheads, they are just bumps and they come and go…but this one will not go. It has been there for a couple of months at least and no matter how well I cleanse or what I put on it it won’t go away. I have now begun to think that it may be a skin cancer. I have made an appointment with the dermatologist but they can’t see me until January, so I won’t know for sure until then. I have looked at pictures on the internet of all the different types of skin cancer but none of them look like my bump. Has anyone had a skin cancer that looked like this?

Yes, some types of both basal and squamous cell carcinomas can look like a small ordinary facial bump. The basal cells can look particularly benign looking while the squamous cells will have a reddish or pinkish tint. Eventually this appearance will change but I know someone who had a basal cell along side their nose for 15 years. Squamous cells would change quicker into a lesion looking worse.

note- I am not talking about all basal or squamous cell carcinomas, but only the small percentage that can and do look like an ordinary facial bump (for a time).

Male Breast Reduction: Lowering Confidence Two at a Time

Beach season is upon us, which can only mean one thing for men suffering with gynecomastia- swimming with your shirt on. Gynecomastia, more commonly referred to as “man-boobs”, is not uncommon, as it is estimated to affect somewhere between 40%-60% of the male population. So take a second gents, lift up your shirts and have a long, hard look. If you see something sagging, male breast reduction could be for you!

What is it?

But what exactly does gynecomastia correction surgery entail? First and foremost, it is wise to get a mammogram or breast x-ray prior to surgery, which can rule out any serious, albeit unlikely, causes of gynecomastia such as breast cancer or tumors. Generally, male breast enlargement is due to either excess glandular tissue in the chest or excess fatty tissue in the chest.

In cases where glandular tissue is the primary cause, a small incision will be made around the edge of the areola or somewhere under the arm. From there, the surgeon will extract not only unnecessary tissue, but also excess fat and skin from around the nipple, as well as the bottom and sides of the breast in question. In cases where fatty tissue is the culprit, liposuction may be the only procedure needed. In which case, a small incision is made around the areola or somewhere in the armpit so that a cannula (a tube that drains fluids) can be inserted to suck out the fat.

Who needs it?

If you are feeling self-conscious about your gynecomastia, which in Greek roughly translates to the not-so-subtle “woman- like breasts”, then maybe male breast reduction will work for you. However, if you are feeling self-conscious because you are a 13-year old boy going through puberty, the best idea is to wait it out. Though gynecomastia is common during puberty, it is generally a passing phase that will correct itself over the course of a few months. So hang in there young men, don’t let those Greek jerks get you down by comparing you to women.

Gynecomastia can stem from several different factors, the most obvious being obesity. However, other causes include genetic disorders, side effects from medication, chronic liver disease, aging, and steroid use. Drugs or medication that enhance estrogen or inhibit testosterone synthesis are generally the ones that produce gynecomastia, although drugs as common as alcohol, marijuana, and valium may also contribute to your “woman- like breasts” physique.

The best candidates should be healthy, emotionally stable men of any age. It is ideal that the patient has firm, elastic skin so that it will reshape to the body’s new form. In some cases, surgery may be unnecessary, especially if your condition of gynecomastia is due to lifestyle preferences. If you are obese, for example, simple exercise and weight loss will minimize body fat, which may in turn decrease fatty tissue within the chest. Likewise, if you drink alcohol in excessive amounts or smoke a lot of marijuana (we’re talking High Times subscriber level) it may be best to cease consumption for several weeks to see if any reversal signs of gynecomastia occur.

Benefits

There is a significant difference in before-and-after pictures (check it out online if you’re into that sort of thing). Not only is the surgery permanent, but it is fairly simple and in the most common cases, involves only one incision that is generally well-disguised either on the edge of the areola or under the arm.

However, the biggest benefit is the boost in confidence, seeing as how a lack of confidence is the primary reason why most men get breast reduction surgery in the first place. Get ready to seek out friends who throw lots of pool parties.

Risks?

If you are being treated by a qualified plastic surgeon (i.e. not some guy you met behind Safeway) then complications should be rare or minor at best. However, surgery of any kind can be risky. Possible risks include infection, skin injury, excessive bleeding, adverse reaction to anesthesia and excessive fluid loss or accumulation. Noticeable scars are possible (especially when major breast reductions are involved) as well as permanent pigment changes around the breast and slightly asymmetric nipples. Temporary effects may include a numbness of the breast or loss of sensation, which could potentially last up to a year.

If you’re afraid of taking your shirt off this beach season, you may want to consider male breast reduction. Unless the beach in question is Coney Island, in which case, who cares if you have man-boobs? Have a Coney Dog and relax.

Does sex relief frustration and anger in a man?

I am working with a man who was going through a divorce. He became affectionate towards me and even proposed marriage (which he has since forgotten). His wife turned up at his door step the day the divorce was to go-through, and announced she had breast cancer. She moved back and has been back with him since, in a separate room as she has been receiving treatment and surgery. As I live far away, we work on a project long-distance. He has since, I suspect developed a relationship with another colleague. He gets very angry when we talk and has changed recently to be impatient and overbearing. His phone will be switched off for short periods, when he gets back on the phone, his mood would have changed. Do you think he is having an affair with his secretary? She is blonde, 19 years old and buxom. He paints nude women and has been painting larger and larger pictures of women in different positions. Is he also a pervert? or an artist ? plus sex-addict?

Sounds like your a little bitter because he let his wife back in his life and for got about you. You should be glad for that just think you could be married to that Ahole. As far as his secretary goes don’t you think this should be the name for secretary’s ( sexatary ) it seems the mass majority sleep with their boss. When my husband was to receive a sexatary I told him that I was going to pick her out for him, well I did and she was fat very unattractive I had nothing to worry about with this one. Two years later my sister in law said to me …… looks good now don’t she,I said to her are you crazy. Come to find out she lost over 100lbs and took her big ugly glass off and wear contacts and make-up. Well she still wasn’t a pretty woman but better then before i ask my husband why he didn’t say anything about the weight lost you didn’t ask he said.He didn’t say anything because YEP he was sleeping with her, I’m not bragging at all but i put her to shame in the looks and I am built better then her she has short brown hair i have very long blonde hair and personality i remember my husband telling me how she like to start trouble in the office and talk about everyone behind their back.My personality is the complete opposite of hers.It goes without saying a guy will sleep with any female if they are around each other long enough makes no difference what they look like because after a while they all start to look good in the eyes of a male.

Signs and Symptoms of Cancer

A symptom is an indication of disease, illness, injury, or that something is not right in the body. Symptoms are felt or noticed by a person, but may not easily be noticed by anyone else. For example, chills, weakness, achiness, shortness of breath, and a cough may be symptoms of pneumonia. A sign is also an indication that something is not right in the body. But signs are defined as things that can be seen by a doctor, nurse, or other health care professional. Fever, rapid breathing rate, and abnormal breathing sounds heard through a stethoscope may be signs of pneumonia.

Having one symptom or sign may not give enough information to suggest a cause. For example, a rash in a child could be a symptom of a number of things including poison ivy, an infectious disease like measles, an infection limited to the skin, or a food allergy. But if the rash is seen along with other signs and symptoms like a high fever, chills, achiness, and a sore throat, then a doctor can get a better picture of the illness. In many cases, a patient’s signs and symptoms do not give enough clues by themselves for the doctor to figure out the cause of an illness. Then medical tests, such as x-rays, blood tests, or a biopsy may be needed.

Cancer is a group of diseases that may cause almost any sign or symptom. The signs and symptoms will depend on where the cancer is, the size of the cancer, and how much it affects the nearby organs or structures. If a cancer spreads (metastasizes), then symptoms may appear in different parts of the body. As a cancer grows, it begins to push on nearby organs, blood vessels, and nerves. This pressure creates some of the signs and symptoms of cancer. If the cancer is in a critical area, such as certain parts of the brain, even the smallest tumor can cause early symptoms.

But sometimes cancers start in places where it does not cause any symptoms until the cancer has grown quite large. Pancreas cancers, for example, do not usually grow large enough to be felt from the outside of the body. Some pancreatic cancers do not cause symptoms until they begin to grow around nearby nerves (this causes a backache). Others grow around the bile duct, which blocks the flow of bile and leads to a yellowing of the skin known as jaundice. By the time a pancreatic cancer causes these signs or symptoms, it has usually reached an advanced stage.

A cancer may also cause symptoms such as fever, fatigue, or weight loss. This may be because cancer cells use up much of the body’s energy supply or release substances that change the body’s metabolism. Or the cancer may cause the immune system to react in ways that produce these symptoms. Sometimes, cancer cells release substances into the bloodstream that cause symptoms not usually thought to result from cancers. For example, some cancers of the pancreas can release substances which cause blood clots to develop in veins of the legs. Some lung cancers make hormone-like substances that affect blood calcium levels, affecting nerves and muscles and causing weakness and dizziness.

Treatment is most successful when cancer is found as early as possible. Finding cancer early usually means it can be treated while it is still small and is less likely to have spread to other parts of the body. This often means a better chance for a cure, especially if initial treatment is to be surgery. A good example of the importance of finding cancer early is melanoma skin cancer. Skin cancer can be easy to remove if it has not grown deep into the skin, and the 5-year survival rate (percentage of people living at least 5 years after diagnosis) at this stage is nearly 100%. But once melanoma has spread to other parts of the body the survival rate drops dramatically.

Sometimes people ignore symptoms either because they do not know that the symptoms could mean something is wrong or because they are frightened by what they might mean and don’t want to seek medical help. General symptoms, such as fatigue, are more likely to have a cause other than cancer and can seem unimportant, especially if they have an obvious cause or only last a short time. In a similar way, a person may reason that a more specific symptom like a breast mass is probably a cyst that will go away by itself. But neither of these symptoms should be discounted or overlooked, especially if they have been present for a long time or are getting worse.

Most likely, any symptoms you may have will not be caused by cancer, but it’s important to have them checked out by your doctor, just in case. If cancer is not the cause, your doctor can help figure out what is and treat it, if needed. In some cases it is possible to detect some cancers before symptoms occur. The American Cancer Society and other health groups encourage the early detection of certain cancers before symptoms occur by recommending a cancer-related check-up and specific tests for people who do not have any symptoms. Keep in mind, however, that these recommended tests do not decrease the importance of reporting any symptoms to your doctor.

It is important to know what some of the general (non-specific) signs and symptoms of cancer are, but remember that having any of these does not mean that you have cancer. There are many other conditions that can cause these signs and symptoms, too. Most people with cancer will lose weight at some time with their disease. An unexplained (unintentional) weight loss of 10 pounds or more may be the first sign of cancer, particularly cancers of the pancreas, stomach, esophagus, or lung.

Fever is very common with cancer, but is more often seen in advanced disease. Almost all patients with cancer will have fever at some time, especially if the cancer or its treatment affects the immune system and makes it harder for the body to fight infection. Less often, fever may be an early sign of cancer, such as with leukemia or lymphoma. Fatigue may be an important symptom as cancer progresses. It may happen early, though, in cancers such as with leukemia, or if the cancer is causing an ongoing loss of blood, as in some colon or stomach cancers. Pain may be an early symptom with some cancers such as bone cancers or testicular cancer. But most often pain is a symptom of advanced disease. Along with cancers of the skin, some internal cancers can cause skin signs that can be seen. These changes include the skin looking darker (hyper pigmentation), yellow (jaundice), or red (erythema); itching; or excessive hair growth.Along with the above general symptoms, you should watch for the following common symptoms, which could be an indication of cancer. Again, there may be other causes for each of these, but it is important to bring them to your doctor’s attention as soon as possible so that they can be investigated.

Long-term constipation, diarrhea, or a change in the size of the stool may be a sign of colon cancer. Pain with urination, blood in the urine, or a change in bladder function (such as more frequent or less frequent urination) could be related to bladder or prostate cancer. Any changes in bladder or bowel function should be reported to your doctor. Skin cancers may bleed and look like sores that do not heal. A long-lasting sore in the mouth could be an oral cancer and should be dealt with right away, especially in patients who smoke, chew tobacco, or frequently drink alcohol. Sores on the penis or vagina may either be signs of infection or an early cancer, and should not be overlooked.

Unusual bleeding can happen in either early or advanced cancer. Blood in the sputum (phlegm) may be a sign of lung cancer. Blood in the stool (or a dark or black stool) could be a sign of colon or rectal cancer. Cancer of the cervix or the endometrium (lining of the uterus) can cause vaginal bleeding. Blood in the urine may be a sign of bladder or kidney cancer. A bloody discharge from the nipple may be a sign of breast cancer. Many cancers can be felt through the skin, mostly in the breast, testicle, lymph nodes (glands), and the soft tissues of the body. A lump or thickening may be an early or late sign of cancer. Any lump or thickening should be reported to your doctor, especially if you’ve just discovered it or noticed it has grown in size.

While they commonly have other causes, indigestion or swallowing problems may be a sign of cancer of the esophagus, stomach, or pharynx (throat). Any wart, mole, or freckle that changes in color, size, or shape, or loses its definite borders should be reported to your doctor without delay. The skin lesion may be a melanoma which, if diagnosed early, can be treated successfully. A cough that does not go away may be a sign of lung cancer. Hoarseness can be a sign of cancer of the larynx (voice box) or thyroid. While the signs and symptoms listed above are the more common ones seen with cancer, there are many others that are less common and are not listed here. If you notice any major changes in the way your body functions or the way you feel, especially if it lasts for a long time or gets worse, let your doctor know. If it has nothing to do with cancer, your doctor can investigate it and treat it, if needed. If it is cancer, you’ll give yourself the best chance to have it treated early, when treatment is most likely to be effective.

Where can I find pictures of oral cancer?

My 11 year old nephew has taken up chewing tobacco. Despite his Mother begging him not to do it, he continues to chew behind her back. I think that if he saw what happens to people who form cancer in their mouths from “spit” that he might have second thoughts. The problem is, I can’t find a site that has multiple pictures to show him. I’d really like to sit him down and show him a slide show of before and after pictures of real people who have been afflicted with this disease. Any help would be fantastic! Thanks!
My sister is divorced from his Father and he’s the one that keeps buying it for him. I don’t quite know what has been said between the two parents, but basically his Dad doesn’t see the harm. I disagree and I really don’t want to see him go through the pain of getting cancer. I am trying not to interfere too much, but it’s hard to sit back and let a child decide that he is mature enough to stick tobacco in his mouth. It makes me really sad, actually.
